What does the 2020 Nissan Altima offer?
The 2020 Nissan Altima is a great vehicle for anyone looking for a spacious, yet affordable midsize car with seating for up to five people. The 2020 Altima offers two highly capable engine options, a comfortable ride, and good fuel economy. The Altima was first introduced in Japan in 1986, and has undergone several upgrades since its inception. Laid out below are some of the new features being offered in the 2020 Nissan Altima.
Different trim levels
Other than being a more fun car to drive than its predecessors, the 2020 Altima is also available in an All-Wheel-Drive option.
The car comes in five trims- S, SV, SL, SR and Platinum. The SR trim denotes a slightly sportier model than the rest. Being a sedan with a rich past, all Altima trims still continue to be popular options in the US.
S: This is the base trim. This trim comes with auto emergency braking, cloth upholstery and an eight-inch touchscreen. The entire suite of driver aids has now been made optional for the S trim.
SV: New features include a host of active safety features, remote start, ProPILOT Assist, cloth seats, dual zone climate controls, heated front seats, and a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
SL: Features include a premium audio system, in addition to the features of the SV trim.
SR: This sportier version of the S trim comes with a turbo-four engine. You will find paddle shifters to connect with the sedan’s Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), a stiffer steering wheel, and 19-inch wheels and updated rear shocks.
Platinum: This trim comes with several top-of-the-line features, including a turbo four engine, Bose premium audio system, moonroof, and several driver assist features from the ProPILOT assist package.
Power and Performance
The 2020 Altima offers drivers two engine options -- a standard 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine and a turbocharged (turbo-four) 2.0-liter engine. Both engines are paired with CVTs, but only the 2.5-liter has the option of all-wheel-drive. The emergency braking distance is also very competitive compared to its rivals.
A completely refreshed version of the Altima was released in 2019. During this time the Altima got a number of detailing upgrades and certain standard safety features in 2020. The current version of this sedan presents a very sophisticated look, a floating roof, and its characteristic V-Motion grille. Although the car appears small from the outside, the Altima offers a surprising amount of seating and cargo space within.
The interior is made of the highest-quality materials, especially in the Platinum trim. Its instrument cluster is covered in soft touch material, as are the upper parts of the doors. Other interior parts are covered in hard plastics but look soft. Advanced technology features include an eight-inch touchscreen and a nine speaker Bose audio system in the Platinum trim.
Safety and Driver-Assist Technologies
The Altima comes with ProPILOT Assist, a hands-on driver assistance system designed to make long drives as well as start-stop traffic easier on everyone in the car. The 2020 Altima also features a front camera, which combines Intelligent Cruise Control and Steering Assist technologies with a front sensor designed to ensure that the vehicle remains within its lane and your precious cargo remains safe at all times.
